The restart feature is a way to move your HIT up the worker dashboard, increasing its visibility and helping you collect data faster. When you use batching options, restarts are automatic.
Restarting your HIT helps bump it up on the worker dashboard. Bumping your HIT up makes it more visible and increases the speed of data collection. You can manually restart your HIT or when you use CloudResearch's MicroBatch tool your HIT is automatically restarted at various intervals. The restart feature is only available for studies where the max time allotted per assignment is 90 minutes or less.
Manually Restarting a HIT
When you launch a HIT, the restart button appears in the lower left of your study window. If you are using MircoBatch, your study will automatically restart at different points; if you are using HyperBatch or no batching options you will need to manually restart your HIT.
To manually restart your HIT simply click the "Restart" button. Once you click restart, the CloudResearch system will wait for all participants currently active in your study to finish and then create a new HIT. Restarting a HIT typically takes a few minutes as the system has to assign new qualification to exclude participants who were associated with your previous HIT. If it is taking longer than expected to restart your HIT, view possible reasons why here.
Automatically Restarting a HIT
When you use MicroBatch, your HIT is automatically restarted at various intervals. When using MicroBatch, you can specify how often you want your HIT to restart (in order to spread out data collection) or let the CloudResearch system determine when to restart the HIT. When you let CloudResearch determine when to restart your HIT, restarts will occur after the maximum time allowed for the HIT elapses. This pattern of restarts continually keeps the HIT near the top of the Worker Dashboard.
